OPINION:
Much ado is being made about longtime Democrat, ex-Clinton adviser, Joe Biden supporter and author Naomi Wolf’s explosive warning on Fox News about the turning of this nation into a “totalitarian state” — and it’s not about nothing.
But why doesn’t the left ever heed the warnings before the 12th hour approaches?
Among Wolf’s remarks to host Tucker Carlson: “The state has now crushed businesses, kept us from gathering in free assembly to worship as the First Amendment provides, is invading our bodies … which is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, restricting movement, fining us in New York state … the violations go on and on.”
And this, in reference to the 10 steps she wrote about in a recent book that tyrants always take before claiming total control: “Whether they are on the left or the right, they do these same ten things and now we’re at something I never thought I would see in my lifetime … it is step 10 and that is the suspension of the rule of law and that is when you start to be a police state, and we’re here. There is no way around it.”
And this, in reference to the government’s ongoing use of the pandemic to exert unconstitutional powers: “[A]utocratic tyrants at the state and now the national level are creating this kind of merger of corporate power and government power, which is really characteristic of totals fascism in the ’20s. They are using that to engage in emergency orders that simply strip us of our rights; rights to property, rights to assembly, rights to worship, all the rights the Constitution guarantees. … [L]ockdowns have never been done in society and really, we are turning into a totalitarian state before everyone’s eyes.”
All true.
All taking place, right before Americans’ eyes.
All absolutely truthful.
Still.
It’s not as if Republicans, conservatives, tea party types, patriots, constitutionalists and all those with an understanding of the Judeo-Christian founding of this nation haven’t been warning of the sharp turn away from godly governance this nation has taken for years, and most speedily since Barack Obama days.
It’s not as if Democrats haven’t been put on notice about their secular doings and self-centered political ambitions and selfish designs and division of country, leading to utter internal collapse.
It’s not as if the writing hasn’t been on the wall that the left, steadily marching ever farther left, has an ultimate end game of crumbling the Constitution and ushering in a system of total government control.
It’s not as if the Democrats, party of progressives — party of socialists that it’s become — hasn’t been obvious in the goal of ripping up the notion of God-given rights and instilling instead a governance of total top-down control.
So when Wolf, a steadfast and longtime Democrat, calls out the “totalitarian state” that’s taking over America — on one hand, it’s cause for jubilation. Finally! A Democrat is coming to her senses.
On the other?
Well, on the other, look at this tweet Wolf put out, just days after the presidential election.
“If I’d known Biden was open to ‘lockdowns’ as he now states, which is something historically unprecedented in any pandemic, and a terrifying practice, one that won’t ever end because elites love it, I would never have voted for him,” she tweeted on Nov. 8.
Come on, now. Nov. 8?
As a disgusted Mike Cernovich tweeted in reply: “He literally ran on lockdowns but hey welcome to the new resistance I guess.”
Yes. We all knew Biden was going to continue the lockdowns. He said as much. And between Nov. 3 and Nov. 8, it’s not like there were momentous shifts in Biden’s statements of viewpoints. He said all along he was going to “follow the science” — that being, the select science presented by the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates and the globalists at the World Health Organization.
On Nov. 8, Biden wasn’t even in the White House.
So, to finish the sentence — On The Other Hand — people like Wolf are the problem with the Democratic Party. They can’t see the obvious. They won’t see the obvious. They refuse to acknowledge the obvious until the obvious smacks right against something held so dear and personal that it can no longer be tolerated. Like an inability to eat in a favorite restaurant. Or a need to promote a book. Just sayin’.
Just sayin’.
Nobody needs to be warned about thieves when the door locks are busted, the house emptied of valuables, and the police are already at the scene. Especially by a repentant member of the band of thieves.
