Megyn Kelly says it’s time for CNN to cover claims of sexual harassment by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo with the intensity it once used on her former employer.
The podcaster, a consistent critic of double standards and media bias in corporate media, told her Twitter followers that reasonable people should expect CNN to address claims by Lindsey Boylan, a former New York government official, since “the Governor actually outranks a journo [accused of sexual harassment] when it comes to news value, right?”
“This is so damned brave of her,” the former Fox News host tweeted regarding a Medium blog post by Ms. Boylan. “[Cuomo] is a disgusting bully.”
Ms. Boylan wrote about “workplace intimidation, harassment and humiliation” by the powerful Democrat, along with a claim that he propositioned her to a game of “strip poker” while the two were on a flight.
Similar accusations were made in December, although Mr. Cuomo’s press secretary insisted at the time that “there is simply no truth to these claims.”
The governor’s office released a new statement Wednesday insisting the allegations are “simply false.”
“I’m sure CNN will be all over this tonight,” Ms. Kelly deadpanned. “Just as they aggressively covered any allegs [sic] made against male Fox News anchors/reporters.”
The media watchdog’s NewsBusters reported in December, however, that major networks were not keen on reporting the issue.
“On Sunday night there was silence from the networks,” NewsBusters reported Dec. 14. “On Monday morning, NBC’s Today, CBS This Morning and ABC’s Good Morning America all avoided the accusations against the governor, despite a combined six hours of available air time.”
Similarly, the conservative watchdog group found a dearth of coverage over Mr. Cuomo’s growing nursing home scandal earlier this month.
“The AP [Cuomo exposé] story dropped before the broadcast networks went to air, but none of them covered it. Not even a news brief,” NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro reported Feb. 11. “This meant ABC’s World News Tonight, the CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News chose not to share the politically damaging story with their viewers.”
This is so damned brave of her. He is a disgusting bully.
