Carson Wentz has a new home.
The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to trade the quarterback to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that can become a first-round pick, according to multiple reports.
Wentz reunites with Colts coach Frank Reich, the Eagles’ former offensive coordinator when the team won the Super Bowl in 2018.
According to the NFL Network, the Colts will owe a 2022 first-rounder if Wentz plays 75% of the snaps that season or 70% of the snaps and leads the Colts to the playoffs.
Wentz is coming off a career-worst year in which he was benched for 2020 second-rounder Jalen Hurts after 12 games.
Wentz is entering the first season of a four-year, $128 million contract he signed in June 2019. The Eagles will absorb a significant salary cap hit of $33.8 million in dead money on their 2021 cap.
