PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man was charged Friday with disorderly conduct and other offenses for allegedly entering the U.S. Capitol during the violent riot last month.
A magistrate judge in Pittsburgh ordered that Russell James Peterson of Rochester be released on $10,000 unsecured bond, with another hearing scheduled for next week.
The FBI criminal complaint issued in Washington alleges that Peterson livestreamed from inside the Capitol on Jan. 6.
An unnamed witness led investigators to Peterson, saying Peterson’s mother had posted on Facebook that Peterson “sat in Pelosi’s chair,” referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The affidavit says a man believed to be Peterson was recorded on security video using a cellphone during the time Peterson allegedly livestreamed on Facebook from the Crypt room of the Capitol.
He’s charged with entering or remaining on restricted property, disorderly conduct that impeded governmental business, disruptive conduct in the Capitol and parading, demonstrating or picketing on Capitol property.
