Bruce Springsteen was charged with DWI and reckless driving in his home state of New Jersey late last year, officials said Wednesday.
The 71-year-old “Glory Days” singer was arrested Nov. 14 at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, a spokesperson for the National Park Service said.
Mr. Springsteen was also charged with consuming alcohol in a closed area, the spokesperson said, adding that the singer “was cooperative throughout the process,” the New York Post reported.
Mr. Springsteen has no known prior DWI arrests, according to TMZ, which first reported the arrest.
The news comes just three days after Mr. Springsteen appeared in a Super Bowl ad for Jeep calling on Americans to meet “in the middle.” It was reported last week that Jeep cut the ad with Mr. Springsteen in January, two months after the arrest.
The ad was pulled off Jeep’s YouTube page and from its official Twitter page just hours after the news broke, The Hollywood Reporter first reported.
The message on YouTube now reads: “Video unavailable. This video is private.”
Mr. Springsteen still has the ad posted on his Twitter account.
