Before the Los Angeles Rams pulled off a blockbuster trade that sent Jared Goff and several picks to the Detroit Lions for Matthew Stafford, the Rams had another trade target in mind.

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles “made a run” for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But the Packers were adamant that Rodgers was going nowhere.

After Green Bay lost the NFC Championship game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rodgers opened an offseason storyline by declaring his future was uncertain. He later clarified those remarks, saying he didn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be wearing Green and Gold next season.

Rodgers put together an MVP-caliber campaign, throwing for 4,299 yards with 48 touchdowns and five interceptions.

He seems quite content in Green Bay, though, despite the hubbub drummed up through his postgame comments. Rodgers confirmed he was the person riding in the back of a pickup truck with a case of Bud Light.

If that’s what Rodgers meant by needing to clear his head after the season, he’s off to a great start.
