While it is bad enough that former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo used his office to intimidate and sexually harass women, his downplaying of nursing home deaths and the lying about it (so he could profit from his then newly released book is a far worse crime (“Janice Dean, whose advocacy helped oust N.Y. Gov. Cuomo, struggles with forgiveness,” Web, Dec. 2).

There were more than 15,000 nursing-home-related deaths from COVID-19, due largely to Cuomo’s decision to put infected people in nursing homes. Yet Cuomo defended himself by saying that ’old people die.’ Cuomo cares only about himself. His arrogance is chilling. And in the final analysis, he should be held accountable for all of his crimes and pay the price for his actions.

He could start by using every last dollar from the proceeds of his book to pay those families who lost loves ones in nursing homes to COVID-19. A precedent must be set.
