The Washington Wizards on Tuesday placed center Montrezl Harrell and forward Rui Hachimura in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, according to multiple reports.

The additions to the COVID-19 list bring the team’s total to eight. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the news.

Guard Aaron Holiday, forward Anthony Gill and center Thomas Bryant were placed in COVID-19 protocols on Monday, joining guards Bradley Beal, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Raul Neto, who were already on the shelf.

Hachimura had a chance to make his 2021-22 debut Tuesday night against the Miami Heat before being placed in protocols. Coach Wes Unseld Jr. on Monday didn’t rule out the former first-round pick for the game. Hachimura has spent the last several weeks ramping up after being away from the team at the beginning of the season due to personal reasons.

With the absences, the Wizards will be limited for their game against the Heat. Washington, now 17-16 after opening the season 10-3, had a game last week against Brooklyn postponed due to an outbreak in the Nets’ organization.

Without Beal, Harrell and Caldwell-Pope, the Wizards will lean more on guard Spencer Dinwiddie and center Daniel Gafford.
