The Washington Wizards had their regular season ravaged by COVID-19. Now, its summer league schedule has also been gutted by the virus.
The NBA postponed the Wizards’ first summer league game Sunday when Washington was scheduled to face the Indiana Pacers due to coronavirus issues among the team.
Second-year guard Cassius Winston, rookie guard Issuf Sanon and rookie big man Isiah Todd were placed in the league’s COVID-19 protocols, while additional contact tracing left the Wizards short of the mandatory number of players required to play.
The game was scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. at the Cox Pavilion on NBA TV.
Washington’s next scheduled game is Tuesday against the Sacramento Kings, though it’s unknown if that game — or any others — are in jeopardy of being postponed or canceled.
The Wizards’ Summer League team has 17 players listed on the roster, including first-rounder Corey Kispert.
