OPINION:
Everyone seems to be blaming Joe Biden for the current fiasco in Afghanistan. Yes, the buck stops with him, but he is very adept at blaming others. One group he is not pointing to is the Democratic Party. Yet since all his advisers are Democrats and the legislative branch is controlled by Democrats, this is a loss orchestrated by the Democratic Party.
To be sure, this is the biggest loss by Democrats since they surrendered to the Union Army at Appomattox. If this defeat had occurred under a Republican president, the media would be blaming every Republican, from senators to small-town mayors. I hear people talk about how we never leave Americans behind but they forget about Benghazi, where Americans were left behind by Democrats, and murdered.
There may be a few pointless Senate hearings in which they will try to blame Donald Trump or global warming for their abject failure in Afghanistan. The only question during the testimony is, When will the “what difference, at this point, does it make?” moment occur?
