LAS VEGAS (AP) - A big casino company said Tuesday it will expand employee coronavirus vaccination clinics to more of its Las Vegas properties, days after state regulators prodded employers to make it easier for workers to get immunized.
Caesars Entertainment scheduled in-house shot drives at its Bally’s Las Vegas on Wednesday, Caesars Palace on Friday and Flamingo Las Vegas on April 13.
The state Gaming Control Board and Gaming Commission on Friday tied employee vaccinations to plans companies are submitting in hopes of raising gambling floor capacity limits beginning May 1.
Caesars, MGM Resorts International, the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts already have employee vaccination clinics. Station Casinos opened several on Tuesday.
Statewide, the number of deaths from COVID-19 jumped to 22 on Tuesday from single-digits, and a two-week measure of positivity, or the percentage of people tested and found to be infected, rose to 4.4%. The World Health Organization goal is 5% for governments to relax restrictions.
A day after everyone 16 and older in Nevada became eligible to receive the vaccine, officials reported the percentage of the state population fully vaccinated topped 21%.
The 295 new COVID-19 cases reported by the state Department of Health and Human Services brought the total in Nevada during the pandemic to 305,652.
