MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell said the social media service he plans on launching soon will not be competing with any platform his pal and former President Donald Trump might potentially start.
“No, no, no, no,” Mr. Lindell said during an interview Thursday in response to a question about the possibility of the two yet-to-be-launched platforms someday maybe competing against one another.
“The more we have, the more voices we have, the better,” Mr. Lindell told Jim Hoft, the founder and editor-in-chief of The Gateway Pundit, a far-right website unabashedly supportive of Mr. Trump.
Mr. Lindell and Mr. Trump, both permanently banned from Twitter, are each said to be starting platforms of their own to rival the popular social media service, but few other details are publicly known.
Mr. Lindell, who Twitter banned for spreading lies on its service about Mr. Trump’s election loss to President Biden, said in the interview that his service, called “Frank,” could launch next week.
“It’s like a YouTube-Twitter combined, where your YouTube is actually your Twitter,” Mr. Lindell said during the interview.
“We have technology no one else has, too,” Mr. Lindell added. “It’s going to be very good for livestreaming and very good for the video platform.”
Mr. Trump was kicked off Twitter during the final days of his presidency following the deadly breach of the U.S. Capitol building waged by his supporters upset over his failed reelection bid.
Days later, Mr. Lindell visited Mr. Trump at the White House while carrying a note about martial law. Multiple retailers stopped carrying MyPillow products soon after.
Trump adviser Jason Miller recently said he expected Mr. Trump will return to social media, “in probably about two or three months here with his own platform.”
