MONTROSE, Pa. (AP) - State and federal authorities are investigating the death of a gas drilling company worker after an injury in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Cabot Oil & Gas said an ambulance was called shortly after midnight Monday to Rush Township in Susquehanna County for an injured contract worker. The person was transported to Montrose Hospital and was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the company said.

Officials said in a statement that the worker’s identity isn’t being released pending notification of relatives. State police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating, and the company said “all parties” are cooperating with authorities.

“We extend our sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. We are heartbroken over this incident,” the statement from company spokesman George Stark said. He said no other workers were injured.
