CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Police in New Hampshire have made an arrest in connection with the overdose death of a well-known member of Concord’s recovery community.
Matthew Colby, who allegedly sold Troy Silva fentanyl hours before his death last summer, was arrested in late March, the Concord Monitor reported Sunday.
Silva founded and led a group centered around meditation at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He owned his own construction business and offered work to anyone who agreed to go with him to a recovery meeting. Silva had offered Colby work after he lost his job.
Silva was 10 years sober from heroin and alcohol before he relapsed in 2018. Police found him on his kitchen floor last August and an autopsy confirmed he had overdosed on a combination of fentanyl and cocaine.
Colby was tied to the drug sale through text messages between the two and security video that showed Silva parked across the street from Colby’s apartment shortly before his death, police said.
Colby told police that Silva came to his apartment to give him rent money and asked him to work the next day.
