CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A bill authorizing an audit of how votes were counted in Windham last fall is headed to the desk of Gov. Chris Sununu, who has said he would sign it.
After eight candidates competed for the town’s four House seats in November, a recount showed four of them each receiving an additional 300 votes, three others receiving smaller increases and the candidate who requested the recount losing 99 votes.
The Senate on Thursday approved a bill authorizing an audit of the town’s ballot counting machines and hand tabulations. The bill already had passed the House and Sununu has said he supports it.
Sen. James Gray, a Republican from Rochester, said the audit will be conducted in public view so every voter can be confident in the election process.
