Black Lives Matter has support at 33,000 feet thanks to American Airlines.
The company announced that flight attendants are now allowed to don “Black Lives Matter” pins in support of the controversial movement.
An announcement informed employees that “it is so important to have a dialogue about this important issue of racism in our society and try to find common ground.”
“American is truly committed to having an inclusive culture that is welcoming to all and a reflection of our country and world,” the statement continued, Fox News reported Monday. “This is why American is so committed to creating a more tolerant and diverse team. Through our partnership with American’s office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we are continuing to work through an overall plan for addressing these issues in our workplace.”
The company’s support comes despite months of protests, looting, and riots connected to the group.
Activists originally took to the streets after the May death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police.
The airlines joins Gatorade, Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, the National Basketball Players Association, and a host of well-known organizations that have expressed support for the movement.
