MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - In-person classes will be canceled at West Virginia University’s Morgantown campus on Tuesday, with nearly all undergraduate classes moving online on Wednesday through at least Friday, Sept. 25, according to a school news release.
The only exception to online undergraduate courses is health sciences courses where students are already engaged in clinical rotation, according to the school. Online classes will continue as usual. Graduate and professional courses will continue to be offered in person.
The changes apply to the Morgantown campus only and are a response to a recent increase in positive cases among students and a concern that cases may increase even more following reports of parties over the holiday weekend where groups should have been in quarantine.
WVU placed 29 students on interim suspension on Sunday amid ongoing COVID-19 investigations. Additional sanctions are pending, the school said.
WVU will evaluate the public health situation on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and advise whether on-campus learning will resume. If it is deemed safe to return, on-campus learning will begin again on Monday, Sept. 28.
Additional information is available at WVU’s Return to Campus website.
