OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - There were 420 more reported cases of coronavirus in Oklahoma on Sunday and three more deaths due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
The department reported a total of 63,607 confirmed cases and 853 deaths, up from 63,187 cases and 850 deaths on Saturday. The actual number of cases in Oklahoma is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.
The department also reported 9,695 active cases and 53,059 recoveries, meaning people who are not currently hospitalized or deceased 14 days after the onset of the virus.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and a cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
