OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - There are an additional 1,147 reported cases of coronavirus cases in Oklahoma on Saturday and four more deaths due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
The department reported a total of 63,187 cases and 850 deaths, up from 62,040 cases and 846 deaths on Friday. The actual number of cases in Oklahoma is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.
The department also reported 9,597 active cases and 52,740 recoveries, meaning people who are not currently not hospitalized or deceased and 14 days after the onset of the virus.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and a cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
