NORTH RIVERSIDE, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago shopping mall was shut down Friday after a man was wounded by gunfire inside the facility, officials said.

Security officials at North Riverside Park Mall say an argument between two male shoppers ended with the shooting. A spokesperson for the mall located west of Chicago says there were no others wounded in the shooting.

The wounded man was taken to Loyola University Hospital with injuries to both legs, officials said. His condition wasn’t immediately known, but officials described him as conscious and alert.

Two men matching descriptions given by witnesses to the shooting were stopped by police and taken into custody during a “felony traffic stop,” officials said. Details about the suspects or the circumstances of the traffic stop weren’t revealed.

The mall’s spokesperson said the facility was closed for the remainder of Friday.

A man in his 20s was shot in June in the mall’s lower level. A 22-year-old man was killed in a May shooting near a mall restaurant.

North Riverside, a town of about 6,700 residents, is located about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Chicago.
