House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is at it again. Inspired by her House boys, she threatens another impeachment process of the president upon his Supreme Court justice nomination (“Pelosi doesn’t rule out impeachment to delay Trump’s Supreme Court pick,” Web, Sept. 20. Firstly the 2019 impeachment was a joke. Round two would be an utter circus.

This excuse for a speaker of the House seems to forget that the president has a constitutional obligation to move forward to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court. Moreover, there is ample precedent for this president to initiate a nomination at this time, during the late stages of his presidency: It has been done 29 times in the history of the nation.

Article II of the Constitution calls for a four-year presidency, not a three-and-a-half-year tenure just to satisfy the whims of Pelosi and her buddy Chuck Schumer in the Senate.

All that can be said of Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff and Nadler is that they collectively reside in the fifth dimension of Rod Serling’s “Twilight Zone.”
