CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Three people died in a series of car crashes that spanned two South Carolina towns on Monday, authorities said.
Goose Creek Police Capt. James Brown said the first crash happened at about 11:40 a.m. on Goose Creek Boulevard. The driver of a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck struck the rear of another vehicle, pushing both vehicles across the median into northbound traffic, news outlets report.
The driver of the Ford truck then continued south in the northbound lane of Goose Creek Boulevard, crossing into North Charleston.
A second crash happened just before noon when the Ford truck struck multiple vehicles, according to North Charleston Deputy Chief Scott Deckard.
The driver of the Ford pickup, along with two other motorists, were killed in the string of wrecks.
Officials did not release the identity of the victims on Monday.
