Washington coach Ron Rivera plans to receive another IV at halftime during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, ESPN reported Sunday.
Rivera received a planned IV last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, leading to quarterback Dwayne Haskins to step up and give a rousing halftime speech when Washington trailed 17-7. Washington, of course, won 27-17.
Rivera said he received the treatment at halftime as part of a designed plan with trainer Ryan Vermillion and the team’s doctors. Rivera is undergoing treatments for cancer found in his lymph node.
“If I’m feeling it, I will tell our head trainer [Ryan Vermillion] that I need it,” Rivera told ESPN.
Washington looks to improve to 2-0 on the season. The game begins at 4:05 p.m.
