LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) - A section of Rhode Island’s second-longest bikeway will be closed for parts of next week as workers install new steel beams for a bridge that passes over the path.
The section of the Blackstone River Bikeway that’s underneath the Manville Bridge in Lincoln will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day the week of Sept. 21.
Officials say no detours will be provided so they’re urging the bicyclists to avoid the section of the path north of the Blackstone River Watershed Council Environmental Education Center while the work is being done.
The more than 18-mile bikeway features nearly 12 miles of continuous path along the Blackstone River from Cumberland to Woonsocket. The Manville Bridge, which closed to cars in May, is expected to reopen next summer.
