CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said she has tested negative for the coronavirus after being exposed to someone with the virus.

The West Virginia Republican said in a statement Tuesday that she still plans to quarantine for 14 days as a precaution.

Capito said after being notified that she had come into contact with an individual who tested positive, she immediately contacted the U.S. Capitol attending physician and took the test.

She said she’s following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Capitol attending physician’s advice to go into quarantine.
