LAGUNA, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico State Police officer suffered minor injuries in a shooting Saturday along Interstate 40 west of Albuquerque, authorities said.

A suspect who was not injured was taken into custody, the State Police said in a brief statement.

The incident occurred near Laguna, which is about 70 miles (113 kilometers) west of Albuquerque, and eastbound traffic on I-40 was being diverted onto State Road 6, the State Police said.

No identities were released and the statement did not provide additional details on the circumstances of the incident, including the nature of the officer’s injuries.
