LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Rep. Deb Haaland of New Mexico are set to headline the Nebraska Democratic Party’s annual fundraiser this year, party leaders announced Tuesday.
The Morrison Exon event is set for Sept. 27 and will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic. The theme is “At Home with Nebraska Democrats.”
Previous headliners at the event include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Repp. Debbie Dingel of Michigan, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and former President Barack Obama.
This year’s event will feature Democratic congressional hopefuls Kara Eastman, who is running for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District seat, and state Sen. Kate Bolz, of Lincoln, who is running in Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District.
Nebraska Democratic Party Chairwoman Jane Kleeb praised both headliners, calling Warren “a true champion of the little guy” and Haaland “a champion for the sovereign rights of tribal nations.”
