President Trump complained about Fox News repeatedly Friday in between appearing for interviews on two of the conservative-leaning cable network’s top shows, “Hannity” and “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“Fox is a much different thing than it was four years ago,” Mr. Trump told radio host Rush Limbaugh. “It’s a problem. Fox is a problem,” he added before later calling the TV network an “obstacle.”
Mr. Trump ripped Fox News during an appearance on “The Rush Limbaugh Show” the president’s reelection team billed as being a virtual campaign rally carried exclusively on the popular radio program.
Among the first media appearances Mr. Trump made since disclosing his coronavirus diagnosis, the virtual rally in which he repeatedly slammed Fox occurred in between appearances on the network.
Mr. Trump called Thursday morning into the Fox Business show hosted by Maria Bartiromo for what marked the president’s first interview since revealing he became infected with the novel coronavirus.
He called that night into the Fox News program hosted by Sean Hannity, and he is set to appear on Tucker Carlson’s show Friday in his first on-camera interview since his diagnosis became public.
“I deal with them. But they’re really, they’ve gone a very different path. It’s a much different group,” Mr. Trump said about Fox News in between the appearances.
The president said that some Fox News personalities are “great” — including namely Mr. Hannity and Laura Ingraham — but indicated he feels others far wide of the mark.
“It’s a shame,” Mr. Trump added. “Fox is 50% of what they were … That’s still better than nothing. At some point maybe they’ll go all the way, and that will be fine, too.”
Mr. Trump revealed on Oct. 2 he tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Fox News said a medical professional will evaluate the president on Mr. Carlson’s show.
