Jane Fonda says the coronavirus pandemic appears to be a “gift” from the Almighty to make sure President Trump is defeated in the upcoming election.

The long-time liberal activist recently sat down with supporters for a Zoom event when the topic turned to the deadly virus and the threat of “fascism.”

“What a great gift, what a tremendous opportunity, we are so lucky. We have to use [this moment] with every ounce of intelligence and courage and wherewithal we have. … I just think that COVID is God’s gift to the Left,” Ms. Fonda said. “That’s a terrible thing to say. I think it was a very difficult thing to send down to us, but it has ripped the band-aid off who [the president] is and what he stands for and what is being done to average people and working people in this country. … We have a chance to harness that anger.”

The comment was noticed on Twitter by an eagle-eyed user identified as Meghan Portfolio before spreading to The Washington Free Beacon, Fox News, and other outlets.

“The election is now 32 days away,” she said Oct. 2 during her “Fire Drill Fridays” live-stream with Green Peace activists. “The goal for all of us right now is to ensure that Joe Biden doesn’t just win, but wins by an unmistakable landslide.”

Ms. Fonda warned that a close race could wind up being decided by litigation that works its way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
