LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada winery that hosted President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, for a campaign rally and an event equipment firm have been fined a combined $14,500 after state inspectors reported violations of coronavirus pandemic safety measures.
Eric Trump’s outdoor appearance Sept. 24 at Pahrump Valley Winery drew a crowd that exceeded a 50-person limit that was in place at the time, according to the state Department of Business and Industry.
Occupational safety inspectors levied a $8,501 fine on the winery owner, Nevada Wine Cellars Inc., and imposed a $6,073 penalty on LMG LLC, an Orlando, Florida-based firm with a facility in Las Vegas.
Representatives of the winery and LMG did not immediately respond Wednesday to messages from The Associated Press.
Distancing between attendees was not maintained and face coverings were not worn by everyone, the department said in a Monday news release.
The event in rural Pahrump, about 60 miles (96 kilometers) west of Las Vegas, followed campaign rallies featuring President Trump on Sept. 12 at an airport in the northern Nevada community of Minden and Sept. 13 at an indoor venue in suburban Las Vegas.
City officials fined the owner of the indoor event in Henderson $3,000 for violating coronavirus prevention mandates.
