The Washington Football Team will host approximately 3,000 fans at FedEx Field when the team takes on the New York Giants on Nov. 8.
The game, which will be limited to season ticket holders. will be Washington’s first outing this season with an expanded number of fans. Previously, Washington reduced capacity because of the coronavirus pandemic. Two weeks ago, the team started to allow up to 250 family members and friends of players, coaches and team employees. Team president Jason Wright said then that they viewed the expansion as an experiment to start letting more fans in.
Last week, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced the state would allow its NFL teams — the Baltimore Ravens and Washington — can operate with 10% capacity.
For the Giants game, Washington is choosing to have less than that 10%.
“We take our responsibility to protect our staff, players, fans, and the community seriously,” Wright said in a statement. “Since the beginning of the season, we worked in close coordination with Prince George’s County health officials to monitor and assess the possibility of welcoming fans.
“We are thrilled to host some of our Season Ticket Members at the Giants game on November 8th and hope to welcome more fans through the FedExField gates in the near future.”
The team said in a statement that everyone in attendance must wear a mask, adding fans will not be allowed to tailgate beforehand.
