OPINION:
Stop it. Stop wasting your time, energy and resources thinking that beating President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on Election Day will lead to a chorus of “Kumbaya” come Inauguration Day for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Ain’t gonna happen.
Cultural appropriation not allowed, eh?
So, let’s move onto another platform, a fun-for-the-sake-of-fun platform, like where celebrities stand on Biden-Harris versus Trump-Biden. It’s a worthy distraction if you didn’t watch the final debate.
First up is Jon Voight, a Trump loyalist and damn good actor. The 81-year-old Academy Award winner recently said in a video: “Biden is evil. Trump must win. He’s real. He will bring back the people’s trust. These leftists are not for the American people. It’s the biggest cover-up ever.”
One of the cover-ups is Mr. Biden’s failure to detail to the voting public what role he played in son Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine and China. Does not Mr. Biden think that American citizens have a right to know, since he is seeking the post to be the leader of the free world?
I’m a little biased, I must admit, because of Jon’s performances in “Midnight Cowboy” and “Rosewood,” and I look forward to his take as Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger of Roe v. Wade infamy, and other liberal causes as the death penalty, school prayer and desegregation.
I’m looking forward because the evildoers are saying the Supreme Court is broken and must be fixed. The court isn’t broken. Some folks are just pissed when the court doesn’t side with them.
Actors Stephen Baldwin and Kristie Alley are Trump backers, too. For Miss Alley, who Mr. Trump said “has great hair,” is doubling down on the Republican ticket, having backed him over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
By Hollywood standards, Mr. Baldwin is a familial leap. His big brother Alec is a damn good, non-offensive Trump impersonator on “Saturday Night Live,” and his daughter Hailey perhaps is more schooled by her uncle’s take than the facts of real life. Or maybe because she’s Mrs. Justin Beiber and living in Canada, she travels in different circles. Who knows? Who cares?
Anyway, Hailey is moving about the left with Hollywood megastars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriquez.
And you foodies, pay attention: Ina Garten, who worked in Washington, D.C, is a Biden girl, as well. Quoting her from a People mag piece: “I’m not political. I think if you research, you’ll find I’ve supported political programs privately but I’ve never been really public about it — but sometimes you just have to do it.
“As a country, we need to pull this together. We need to stop being divisive and be positive and supportive and collaborative,” she added. “[Biden] is a guy who’s been in Congress for decades and has a reputation for working across the aisle, and I think that’s exactly what we need right now.”
The Barefoot Contessa knows a thing or three about how Washington works, considering she lived in D.C., attended George Washington University and worked in the White House, and her husband worked in the Nixon, Ford and Carter administrations.
But let’s be frank. In politics, working across the aisle is par for the course regarding opposition research.
I hope Ms. Garten isn’t naive or thinks we are.
So, who’s gonna lead the chorus of “Kumbaya?” Oh lord, not Joan Baez, please.
That’d be cultural appropriation, right?
