President Trump’s son Eric Trump shared a fake image Tuesday on Twitter that showed rap artists and actors Ice Cube and 50 Cent each wearing hats touting his father’s reelection campaign.
Although the younger Trump’s post including the image was eventually taken down, more than 7,400 other Twitter accounts shared the tweet before it was pulled from the platform later Tuesday.
Twitter had flagged the post in the interim by applying a “manipulated media” tag informing users the image was altered.
“Two great, courageous, Americans,” the younger Trump captioned the doctored image in his since-removed tweet.
The bogus image showed the two rappers and actors posing side by side in matching “Trump 2020” baseball caps.
Ice Cube, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, clarified last week that he has not endorsed any candidate for president after it emerged he had been in contact with Mr. Trump’s reelection campaign.
More recently, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, endorsed the president Monday on Instagram in a post encouraging his social media followers to vote for Mr. Trump, meanwhile.
