The Washington Football Team is placing Bryce Love on injured reserve with a knee injury, but the running back is not expected to miss the rest of the year.
Coach Ron Rivera said Friday that Love’s knee started to swell over the past few days and that he is expected to miss three to four weeks.
The announcement was made as a team official read off the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Washington announced defensive end Chase Young (groin), linebacker Cole Holcomb (knee) and wideout Steven Sims (toe) are out on Sunday. Wideout Terry McLaurin (thigh), tackle Morgan Moses (hip), linebacker Ryan Anderson (knee) and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (illness) are questionable.
Love, 23, has yet to play this season and is coming off a torn ACL. Love missed all of last season with the injury, which he suffered in the college.
Washington opted to place Love on injured reserve to free up another roster spot. The team has only three active running backs and will likely add one in the coming days. Rivera said the team was forced to use Cole Luke, a defensive back from the practice squad, as a scout team running back in practice with Washington short at the position.
