On Tuesday I watched Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono question Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett on TV. Hirono asked Judge Barrett two disgusting questions. First, whether Judge Barrett had ever sexually assaulted anyone; second, whether she had ever entered into a settlement for sexual assaulting someone. These questions were asked without any basis to support them. Judge Barrett denied them, not unexpectedly.

Ms. Hirono’s questions greatly offended me. I was appalled that such gross misconduct would be committed by a senator of the United States.

I am demanding that Hirono publicly, on television, apologize to Judge Barrett and every American who witnessed the incident (and it had better not be one of these typical politician’s ’non-apology’ apologies, either).
