NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee state senator is resting comfortably at the hospital after suffering an aneurysm last week, a Senate GOP spokesperson said Monday.
Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus spokesperson Darlene Schlicher said Sen. Kerry Roberts was feeling better and getting a lot of rest as of Sunday evening.
On Saturday, Schlicher said the Springfield lawmaker would be closely monitored by hospital staff in the coming days.
“The Roberts family is very grateful for the excellent care that he has received from first responders and hospital staff,” Schlicher said in a statement Saturday. “They are also very thankful for the outpouring of concern and for the thoughts and prayers lifted on his behalf.”
Senate Speaker Randy McNally tweeted on Friday that Roberts suffered the aneurysm and was hospitalized that afternoon.
An aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning blood vessel, according to the Mayo Clinic.
