The NFL postponed a matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans after an additional Titans player and a personnel member tested positive for the coronavirus.
The game, originally set for Sunday, will now be played later in the season, the NFL said in a statement. The league did not announce a new date.
This marks the first postponement of the NFL’s regular season due to the coronavirus. The adjustment comes after an outbreak on the Titans following their win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Initially, the NFL had hoped the Titans-Steelers game could still be played this week, even if the league had to push it to Monday or Tuesday. But with these new cases, the league decided to move the game past this week.
“The decision to postpone the game was made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel,” the league said in a statement. “The Titans facility will remain closed and the team will continue to have no in-person activities until further notice.”
