Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham said Monday that President Trump should think about running for president again in 2024 if the Trump campaign’s legal battles in the 2020 contest don’t pan out.
“I would encourage President Trump, if after all this he does fall short, we just can’t quite get there, to not let this movement die, to consider running again,” the South Carolina Republican said on Fox News Radio.
“Grover Cleveland came back. Donald Trump should think about it if he falls short,” Mr. Graham said.
He also said the 2020 election is by no means over and that officials need to look carefully at the results in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona and Georgia.
“We got to prove system failure in Pennsylvania,” Mr. Graham said. “I don’t know if it will flip the election, but I do know this — it deserves to be looked at and this election is by no means over.”
Over the weekend, Mr. Graham released a sworn affidavit from a postal employee who said he was instructed to pick up mail ballots in Pennsylvania after Election Day.
Richard Hopkins, the USPS employee, said he overheard talk from superiors at his office that there was a plan to then make it look like the ballots had been postmarked on time so they could count.
A USPS spokeswoman said the matter is under investigation.
Multiple news outlets declared presumptive President-Elect Joseph R. Biden the winner on Saturday after projecting that he would win Pennsylvania’s 20 Electoral College votes, pushing him above the 270 needed to win.
Mr. Biden is leading Mr. Trump by narrow margins in Arizona and Georgia.
The Associated Press and Fox News called Arizona for Mr. Biden, but Georgia has not yet been called and officials there say it looks like things are headed for a recount.
Multiple news outlets called Michigan for Mr. Biden last Wednesday.
