OPINION:
A White House under Joe Biden will call for all Americans to wear face masks, and will pressure governors and mayors and local leaders to enforce his will.
Let the regulatory clampdowns begin. Let the COVID-19 related regulatory clampdowns begin. This is just the start.
Don’t say America wasn’t warned about the “I am zee law” to come with a Biden administration.
That’s according to a Biden campaign official who went on NBC News to make clear: January, with a Biden at the helm, brings a new American order.
“If a governor declines [to enforce face masking], he’ll go to the mayors in the state and ask them to lead,” said the official, The Hill reported. “In many states there is the capacity of mayors to institute mandates.”
There you have it.
The former vice president on the campaign trail called for a “national mask mandate.” Facing backlash — and a little refresher on the Constitution — he backed off that call, saying instead he’d rather “plead with” people to wear the face coverings.
“[T]he federal government — there’s a constitutional issue whether federal government could issue such a mandate,” Biden said in early September. “I don’t think constitutionally they could, so I wouldn’t issue a mandate.”
Now?
Well now that Biden envisions a certain destiny in the White House, in control of the executive branch, he’s changed tune yet again.
He’s flipped and flopped.
More to the truth: He’s taken the first of what will be many, many steps toward scorning his so-called moderate politics in favor of far-leftism. He’s going to cave to about every far-leftist agenda item that’s brought before him, beginning with the face mask mandates.
But then again, this shouldn’t surprise.
Biden said he was going to listen to the scientists on COVID-19 — and the only scientists he felt compelled to listen to were those pushing the far-left agenda.
On COVID-19, with Joe Biden, count on this: Whatever Anthony Fauci wants, Anthony Fauci will get.
