MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A Republican U.S. Senate candidate who was defeated in the September primary is planning to run for the office again in 2022.

WMUR-TV reports retired Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc said he’s running for the seat currently occupied by Democrat Maggie Hassan.

Bolduc lost the Sept. 8 Republican primary to Bryant “Corky” Messner, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump. Messner lost to Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen on Election Day, who won her third term.

Bolduc, who filed a statement of candidacy on Monday with the Federal Election Commission, said he will spend the next two years building a strong grassroots campaign organization for another run.
