LANDOVER — Kyle Allen was carted off in the first quarter of Sunday’s game of the New York Giants with a serious-looking ankle injury.

The Washington quarterback got hurt with 1:04 left in the quarter after Giants safety Jabrill Peppers tripped him. Allen’s leg appeared to snap and the 24-year-old immediately yelled out in pain. The cart was soon ushered out and Allen’s leg was put in an air cast.

Allen was ruled out for the rest of the game with a ankle injury.

Veteran Alex Smith, who once suffered his own horrific leg injury, replaced Allen.

Washington trails 10-0.
