The Cleveland Browns placed Baker Mayfield on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Sunday, after it was determined the quarterback came into close contact with a staff member who tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday.

The Browns are on a bye week. When they return Monday to the facility, “We will continue to work closely with the league and medical experts on the appropriate next steps with the health and safety of our players, coaches and staff members remaining our highest priority,” a statement read.

According to ESPN, Mayfield has not tested positive. A tweet from the team’s account clarified that the reserve list was created for players who tested positive or needed to quarantine after coming within close contact with someone who had tested positive.

Mayfield will need to remain isolated for five days. If he continues to test negative, he can return to the team and could be ready to play the Houston Texans on Nov. 15.
