Andy Dalton’s rough season just got even worse.

The Dallas Cowboys placed the quarterback on the NFL’s COVID-19 list Tuesday, keeping him out of Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN. Dalton being placed on the list comes after the veteran was knocked out of a Week 7 loss to Washington with a concussion.

Dalton took over Dallas’ starting job last month following Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury. But he’ll now miss his second game of the season.

James Madison seventh-rounder Ben DiNucci will start again in Dalton’s place. The rookie threw for just 180 yards over the weekend in a 23-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The loss dropped the Cowboys to 2-6 in what’s been a massively disappointing season for Dallas, which entered the year with Super Bowl expectations.

Dalton, the former longtime starter for the Cincinnati Bengals who joined the Cowboys this offseason, has made two starts in 2020 — losing both. He’s thrown for 452 yards for one touchdown and three interceptions.
