After Lionel Messi dribbled through defenders and unleashed a thunderous strike into the top corner of the net, the Barcelona superstar took a moment to honor another Argentinian No. 10.

Messi pulled off his Barcelona kit to reveal a Newell’s Old Boys jersey, kissed his hands and raised both hands in the air in tribute of Diego Maradona. That’s the Argentinian club Messi began his career with as a member of the youth team, and Maradona briefly played for Newell’s between 1993 and 1994.

Maradona died Wednesday, aged 60.

Maradona managed the Argentine national team between 2008 and 2010, coaching Messi. Maradona also played for Barcelona from 1982 to 1984, and before Sunday’s match — a 4-0 win over Osasuna — the Catalonian club honored the legend, hanging a framed Maradona jersey above the presidential box and holding a minute’s silence.
