OPINION:
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was going to have his two adult daughters along with his 89-year-old mother travel to his Albany home for Thanksgiving — but then the cries of hypocrite, hypocrite, hypocrite started, and he was forced to change his plans.
Or at least announce a partial change in plans.
Why? Cuomo has been shaking fingers at the citizens of his state for weeks now, scolding them to stay home for Thanksgiving, admonishing them not to travel.
Yet this was the Cuomo who went on WAMC radio and told of his own Thanksgiving plans, for all to hear, as CNN noted: “My mom is going to come up and two of my girls, is the current plan. But the plans change. I have a lot of work to do between now and Thanksgiving.”
And then in this same interview, Cuomo scolded New Yorkers again to stay home and to stay in groups of fewer than 10.
Another Democrat hypocrite.
“This is one of the many reasons why Cuomo is the WORST governor in America. His arrogance and hypocrisy knows no bounds,” tweeted Rep. Elise Stefanik, New York Republican. “Do as I say, not as I do. Rules for thee, but not for me. Family for me, but none for you. A despised, hypocritical, tyrannical, hubris-laden governor.”
Yep. Another Democrat hypocrite bites the big one.
“My daughter isn’t coming to Thanksgiving. She is out of state and it’s safer not to travel,” Cuomo tweeted, after facing an onslaught of righteous anger over his hypocrisy.
A spokesperson for Cuomo later said the governor wasn’t going to see his family at all for the holiday.
Well and good. But he’s still a hypocrite for making the plans in the first place, all the while demanding stay-at-home, no-travel obedience for everyone else.
And he’s hardly alone in his hypocrisy.
There’s California Gov. Gavin Newsom with his indoor partying, minus the face masks. There’s House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with her hair salon visit, minus the face mask. There’s New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy with his restaurant gathering, minus the face mask.
The list of hypocrites — the instances of hypocrisy — go long.
And the thing is, where it stops, nobody knows. That is to say: It won’t stop until the American people rise up and make it stop.
