Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow required a cart to take him off the field Sunday after he suffered what looked like a significant left leg injury in the third quarter.
Burrow writhed around on the turf, holding his left knee, following a heavy collision of bodies in the pocket. Most of his Cincinnati teammates made their way onto the field to meet Burrow on the cart, as did Washington’s Chase Young — who was selected one spot behind Burrow in the 2020 NFL Draft and spent time with Burrow at Ohio State.
Burrow has impressed so far in his rookie season, entering Sunday’s contest with 2,485 yards and 12 touchdowns. And midway through three quarters at FedEx Field, Burrow had completed 22-of-34 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown. He had also lost a fumble.

The CBS crew said they would not show the replay of Burrow’s injury, saying it “wasn’t pretty.” Ryan Finley replaced Burrow under center.
Burrow’s injury was near the same spot on the field Washington quarterback Alex Smith suffered his significant leg injury about two years earlier, and Kyle Allen also hurt his ankle on that end of the field against the Giants on Nov. 8.
