DENVER (AP) - Colorado Democratic U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter says he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Perlmutter said in a statement Tuesday he learned he has the virus but is asymptomatic, Colorado Politics reported Wednesday.
He says he is isolating in his Washington, D.C., apartment while working and voting remotely.
Perlmutter was elected to his eighth term Nov. 3 representing suburban Denver’s 7th Congressional District.
“This serves as an important reminder that this virus is highly contagious and should be taken seriously,” Perlmutter said. “As we enter the holiday season, I encourage everyone to continue to heed the warnings of no personal gatherings, social distancing and wearing a mask.”
