OPINION:
This ongoing battle between socialism and capitalism, democratic-republicanism, the Constitution and America’s system of limited governance is a tragedy, given the hard-fought freedoms of our country’s colonists, founders and patriots, and the many, many sacrifices of those who’ve gone before, those who’ve given all.
But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t spring up overnight. She’s the unfortunate, embarrassing and disturbing result of a nation long adrift.
For years, the Democratic Socialists of America have been infiltrating America’s public school systems, sending in their minions to corrupt the minds of youth with anti-capitalism claptrap.
The DSA devotes attention to “Why Socialists Should Become Teachers,” onits website.
“[S]ocialists should the jobs as teachers (and other school-based workers) for the political, economic, and social potential the industry holds,” the DSA argues, referencing a pamphlet from DSA teachers of West Virginia.
Those are the influencers of America’s emerging leaders — of America’s emerging voters.
This is the years-long propaganda that brought about the likes of an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This is the reason for the energetic youth who rallied around the likes of a Bernie Sanders.
And we wonder how the Democratic Party turned so far left?
Today’s talk of socialism, today’s polls showing the youthful embrace of socialism, today’s votes that alarmingly bring socialists into public office — it’s all due to yesterday’s teachings. Now combine this school-taught anti-American mindset with the rise of secular society; the breakdown of family, which is the basic building block of society; the scorning and mocking of standards of behavior; the degrading of morals and virtues; the weakening of churches and biblical values; the growing acceptance of recreational drugs, recreational sex, recreational rot — and the end result is more rot.
The end result is a nation that doesn’t recognize individual rights as coming from God, because God isn’t even a factor in the political equation any longer.
Add in a corrupt media and a far-leftist fawning media and the cycle’s complete.
As the education system goes, so goes the nation’s next leaders. As the culture goes, so goes the nation’s politics. As the politics go, so goes the country’s freedoms.
If America can’t reclaim its school systems, America won’t reel in socialism.
But if America can’t find its moral compass, America’s won’t even be America for much longer.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a symptom. She’s hardly the whole problem.
