Washington running back Bryce Love will return to practice Wednesday for the first time since being placed on injured reserve last month.
Love, a 2019 fourth-round pick out of Stanford, has not played this season. He was inactive for the team’s first three games before going on injured reserve on Oct. 3 with a knee injury. Coach Ron Rivera said then that Love’s knee was starting to swell up and needed time to rest in order to get healthy.
Love, of course, tore his ACL in his final year of college — an injury that caused him to fall in the draft and miss all of his rookie year.
With Love returning to practice, Washington will have 21 days to decide whether to activate him off injured reserve or keep him on the list for the rest of the season.
Rivera indicated last week that Love was nearing this step.
“We’re hopeful,” Rivera said. “He’s had a couple of really good days with the trainers. I think it’s close to getting him back out there. Again, he was having a really good camp. He got sore for a little bit, and we just rested him to be quite honest. He’s taken advantage of it. He’s done a lot of really good things in the training room.”
The Washington Post first reported the news.
