The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Tuesday that four more players are heading to the reserve/COVID-19 list, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, after initially placing one player on the COVID-19 list Monday.
The Steelers added tight end Vance McDonald to the COVID-19 list Monday afternoon, with the positive test coming after Pittsburgh’s 24-19 win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Now, Roethlisberger, offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins, running back Jaylen Samuels and linebacker Vince Williams are joining McDonald on the COVID-19 list.
Should the most recent four players — who were deemed to be in close contact with McDonald — test negative and not show symptoms for five days, they will be eligible to return for Sunday’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. They can take part in virtual meetings but will not be at the training facility.
According to ESPN, Roethlisberger has tested negative.
Pittsburgh has already had its schedule adjusted once this season due to the coronavirus. With positive tests on the Tennessee Titans, that Week 4 game was moved to Week 7, instead. The Steelers are the NFL’s lone remaining undefeated team at 8-0.
